Our Mission
"Phlebotomy Training Services aims to deliver the highest quality of training to all of it's clients, and was established in 2007 to raise the profile of Phlebotomy across the UK. We want to redefine phlebotomy training in the UK so that it is structured, educational, and only teaches one best practice to everybody who wants to become a phlebotomist. Phlebotomy Training Services is the future of phlebotomy training in the UK."
About Us
Phlebotomy Training Services was founded by our course director, Alison Purkiss (CertEd). Alison has nearly 10 years experience of practising phlebotomy and training others how to do so. This experience, combined with her Certificate in Education, meant that Alison had all of the skills and knowledge required to start the company, and wrote two courses that would change the face of UK phlebotomy training.
Unfortunately there is a lack of structured training for phlebotomists in the UK. However Phlebotomy Training Services' courses are designed to give learners all the skills and knowledge they require to start their career as a phlebotomist in a structured and educational setting.
Our courses are delivered by tutors with a minimum of 10 years phlebotomy experience. All of our tutors are also either qualified or trainee teachers working towards their Certificate in Education/PGCE. All of our courses comply with recommendations put forward by the NHS and the relevant governing bodies. Our basic phlebotomy course covers all of the 18 competencies set out in the CHS132 (The National Occupational Standard for Phlebotomy) written by Skills for Health. Our Stem Cell Retrieval from the umbilical cord course covers all of the competencies highlighted by the Human Tissue Authority in the Q&S Regulations. Our courses teach you both the theory and practice of phlebotomy.
We regularly hold training sessions that are open to members of the general public who want to learn phlebotomy or expand their existing skills. Venues include London, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham York and Bristol. We also offer in-house training to the staff of hospitals, nursing homes and universities and colleges all over the country.
Testimonial
"Thanks for the informative, interesting and fun training course. I have now taken blood from about 7 patients, all problem free except one, which I knew how to resolve and still obtain blood from, thanks to your course. I found the practical work particularly useful and am using everything I learnt every single day in my clinical work."
